Anyways, have abandoned that project (at least i won that prize, and generated side business cause of it). but I do not know of any other manufacturer that just closes the door with no feedback (i am also an emerging developer, so perhaps this is common practice in the industry). I know my game is not perfect, and needs work. and then Oculus pulled the same thing on me. Released as beta on Sideloadvr to get feedback, for which i got excellent ratings. Finally, made my game as an alpha 1 which won a game Jam (for which i went to China as a 1st prize winner). Also attended Oculus connect to learn more about best practices for development. But both the note 4 and s6 innovators edition, as well s the retail to make sure my game ran properly. The range of experiences available to GearVR players (particularly from independent developers) will be lacking, and developers will move on to different platforms that help and encourage distribution of content. With this poor approach to developer relations and lack of guidance, the GearVR and Oculus platform will struggle from both the consumer and developer ends of the spectrum. The application curiously changed status from "Under Review" to "Changes Requested" twice in two days without any further email.Īs a "walled garden" with no other real distribution outlet, I have just spent 4 months of my life developing an experience that I cannot sell or share with anyone else without explanation. So, I modified the UI and the behavior of some objects around the camera to be even more "safe" and then submitted a second build. The game runs at a constant 60fps on my Note 4 and never overheats. I had already made sure my game met all the GearVR best practices and publishing requirements. Should you choose to continue development on this title and make significant revisions, this state will allow you to resubmit." Please note that your submission will be in the "Changes Requested" state on the Developer Dashboard. We're always looking for great new apps and games, so we'd be happy to take a look at your next project!

You can also look through the games and experiences that we currently feature. To get an idea of the content standards required for the Oculus Store, please take a look at our publishing documentation, and especially our best practices and publishing requirements page.

After a complete review, we've decided that Hippie Slayer does not meet the content standards for the Oculus Store.ĭue to the volume of submissions, we can't offer specific feedback at this time.
GEAR VR LOOKTHROUGH CAMERA HOW TO
It gave me not a word of insight on how to "fix" my application. After submitting my game, Hippie Slayer (link to game play video), I received a response which said nothing. The current system of application review for the GearVR store is flawed and unacceptable. Multiple outlets for distribution are important to developers. NOTE: Opinion of my game aside, the point of this is to highlight the walled garden monopoly of the Gear VR.
